Trespasser caught with suspected police firearm

Security company catches trespasser with suspected stolen police firearm.

An armed suspect was caught Saturday night on the property of a Lyttelton resident in Centurion.

According to Monitor Net security, the resident called to report a trespasser and a patrol unit was sent out to investigate.

The two security guards from Monitor Net arrived in time to catch an armed suspect on the premises.

“They managed to disarm and arrest the suspect who had a Vector 9mm in his possession,” said Monitor Net operational manager Juan Thiebaut.

It was suspected the firearm might belong to Tshwane metro police.

“We cannot confirm that. The weapon was handed over to the SAPS firearm ballistics department,” said Thiebuat.

Lyttelton police arrived on the scene to take the suspect into custody.

“Once again we have proven that crime does not pay in our operational areas,” concluded Thiebuat.
