Search for bogus police

Bogus police being investigated following several attacks on Van der Hoff.

Police are still on the hunt for robbers who have been posing as bogus police in the west of Pretoria.

Several people have been attacked and robbed on Van der Hoff Road in recent weeks.

Hercules police spokesperson Bonginkosi Msimango said they were monitoring the situation in the area.

“We are aware of the allegations and following up. No arrests have been made so far,” he said.

Earlier this month Best Care owner Kobus Bester was attacked during a robbery in Van der Hoff Road near Hartbeespoort.

Bester was attacked after he was pulled over by a white VW Golf flashing blue police lights. He has since been discharged from hospital after going for a scan, according to his stepson Xander Loubser.

In a separate incident on the same road, a motorist and his passenger were robbed at gunpoint by bogus police.

The couple were forced out of their vehicle, tied up in the bushes and robbed of their personal belongings. The robbers fled the scene with their own vehicle and the vehicle of the robbed couple.
