NATIONAL NEWS: Thieving ‘parents’ target Mpumalanga schools

They targeted a Grade 1 class where they snatched the teacher’s cellphone from her desk.

A seemingly growing trend of thieves pretending to be parents in order to steal valuables from school classrooms has been hitting two Middelburg schools in Mpumalanga.

In the most recent incident captured on Tuesday, a man and woman are seen entering the Middelburg Christian School gate while a barrage of children cross the road. A Grade 1 teacher was on duty at the gate but didn’t suspect a thing as the suspects casually walked past her, Middelburg Observer reported.

The man entered the school premises, followed by the woman walking a short distance behind. Both proceeded to a Grade RR class, where they stole a purse.
