Dawid Connoway is still grieving for the girlfriend he allegedly gunned down in broad daylight at her place of work in Moreleta Park last year.
The 38-year-old Connoway has pleaded not guilty to murdering Nicolene Schreuder and through his lawyer, Thesigan Pillay, informed the Pretoria North High Court this week that he was very traumatised by the death.
Connoway pleaded not guilty to several other charges including the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, attempted murder and malicious damage to property.
On 29 April, he drove his motorcycle to Manage All office in Moreleta Park. Schreuder, who worked as the personal assistant to the CEO of the company, was allegedly shot in the car park several times.
Connoway allegedly sped off after also threatening to shoot a security guard to his parents’ farm outside Pretoria where hid until his arrest.
The court heard testimony from Rosalind Schreuder, mother of the deceased, that her 34-year-old daughter had lived with the accused for about two years before her death.
A few days before the alleged murder, the deceased had moved back to her mother’s home after allegedly being assaulted by Connoway.
Schreuder arrived at her mother’s house with her three dogs after Connoway allegedly also threatened to kill the pets. The court heard that at the time, Connoway had promised Rosalind that he would never hurt Schreuder again.
Connoway did not give the court a plea explanation and his trial continues.
