Residents help capture three robbers
Residents and security chased and caught three armed men in Centurion after they robbed a shop in Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday.
Three men were chased and caught by security officials and residents in Centurion after robbing a shop in Olievenhoutbosch.
One of them was found hiding in someone’s yard in The Reeds.
Copwatch security firm spokesperson Bertus Myburgh said the robbery was carried out by five men on Tuesday.
The men were chased by residents towards Panorama Road in The Reeds. One of them fired shots at the pursuers.
“We received a call from Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) [informing us] that a witness had seen one of the men entering someone’s property carrying a firearm,” he said.
With the help of Monitor Net, the armed man was found hiding in an outside bathroom and was arrested.
The second robber was apprehended by the residents in Olievenhoutbosch.
The third man was caught at a nearby river.
The other two robbers were still at large, Myburgh said.
No one was injured during the chase and the shooting.
