Man run over in hi-jacking
A man was run over and assaulted in a hi-jacking in Wonderboompoort at the weekend.
A man was hi-jacked and assaulted near the Mayville Spar, Wonderboompoort, west of Pretoria, at the weekend.
Wonderboompoort CPF Sector 2 spokesperson Andre Rademeyer said the hi-jacking happened around 18:00 at the Spar on Saturday.
“The victim was hi-jacked behind the Spar and was dropped off at the Spar after he was assaulted,” Rademeyer said.
He said the man claimed he was also run over by the hi-jackers.
Rademeyer said the man was fetched from the Wonderboompoort police station by his friend after he reported the hi-jacking to police.
Police said they could confirm the hijacking and assault, but could not give any further detail yet at time of publishing.
Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) spokesperson Hannes Du Buisson said they received a call about a hi-jacking and assault.
“We simply relayed the message of the stolen vehicle’s registration on social media,” he said.
“A Nissan 1 ton bakkie, registration BG87TYGP with a canopy was reported stolen,” the CCC’s Facebook page confirmed.
