Suspected rapist still in hospital after beating
The man accused of being a serial rapist was still recovering in hospital after he was assaulted.

A man suspected of being the Pretoria north serial rapist was on Monday still recovering in hospital after a mob assaulted him two weeks ago.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Rebecca Phatlhane said the 28-year-old was under police guard at George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa and had not appeared in court yet.
“He will appear once he is released [discharged]. Once he is released, it will be up to him to decide whether to open a case of assault against that mob that attacked him,” she told Rekord on Monday.
The man was believed to have attacked, raped and robbed women in Pretoria north, Bon Accord and Onderstepoort from November last year.
The accused would abduct women at gunpoint, rape them and then flee with their belongings.
Phatlhane said the alleged rapist was arrested after police received a tip-off that residents caught him on 1 March.
By the time police arrived at the scene near the bridge on Lavender Road in Bon Accord, the man had already been assaulted by residents.
Phatlhane said the man was facing nine charges of rape and armed robbery.
