Thief gets electrocuted

A man was electrocuted when he tried to steal power cables.

An apparent power cable thief was electrocuted in Proclamation Hill, west of Pretoria, on Tuesday morning.

This happened on the corner of Mica and Oliven Streets.

Residents found his body, CPF spokesperson Thesigan Pillay said.

“He was apparently stealing electric power cables when he got electrocuted.”

Pillay said paramedics tried to revive him but declared the man dead after few minutes.

“We condemn the crime as the CPF because it affects our country’s infrastructure as people rely on power grids,” said Pillay.

“Criminals tamper with people’s lives as well as their own.”

Pretoria West police could not be reached for comment immediately.
