Three men have been arrested and a domestic worker is on the run after an Erasmia man was killed in his home Monday afternoon.
Police said the men cornered Johann le Roux (61) in his home, on a plot in Rhenosterspruit and beat him to death with a sharp object.
“It is alleged that deceased left his house early in the morning, leaving behind his domestic worker,” police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said.
“When he came back around 12:00, he was confronted by three unknown suspects. They tied him up and beat him with a sharp object until he died.”
He said the house was ransacked and items such as electrical appliances, clothing, laptops were stolen.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspects took two vehicles (a gold Toyota Land Cruiser and Hyundai H1) which belonging to the owner.”
“It’s unclear how the suspects gained entry into the house and the motive behind the killing is not known at this stage,” Moloto said.
Moloto said the three men were arrested on Wednesday morning, but the domestic has disappeared and is sought by the police.
