Car-jammers caught after high-speed chase

Sinoville-police caught two suspected thieves after a vehicle rolled on the R101 (old Warmbad road).

Two would-be thieves were arrested after a high-speed chase in Sinoville on Friday.

“They were caught jamming the locks of vehicles at a school and then tried to escape from the law in white Volkswagen Polo,” said police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk.

Police chased after the two suspects in Lavender Road.”

Van Dyk said the Polo crashed into a minibus taxi during the pursuit, but drove on.
“They continued to flee towards the old Warmbad Road, where the driver lost control of the getaway-vehicle.”

Van Dyk said the Polo overturned on the R101. Two men jumped out and tried to run away through an open veld.

Police caught up with them and arrested both men.”
Van Dyk said in the past week the Sinoville-area had been plagued by car-jammers, using electronic devices to jam the locks of vehicles – making it easy for them to steal the car or take valuables from the vehicle.
