Man escapes attempted hijacking
A man was shot while escaping a hijacking attempt.
A man was wounded but escaped a hijacking attempt in Menlyn on Thursday night when a number of men confronted him at a street corner.
“He was shot in the arm with a shotgun after which he managed to drive away,” said Brendon Morgan, spokesperson of the directorate of specialized security (DSS).
This happened on the corner of Lois Avenue and Garsfontein Road and the man droveto a garage on the corner of Atterbury and Solomon Mahlangu drives.
“He went inside the shop at the garage and collapsed,” Morgan said.
The man didn’t receive any medical treatment on scene and was transported to Wilgers hospital by his father.
“To my knowledge no one has been arrested yet.”
Police could not comment immediately.
