About thirty strollers took to the city centre on Saturday morning and discovered historical landmarks around the Pretoria CBD.
The walk started opposite the SA Reserve Bank at 07:00 and proceeded to Sammy Marks Square, Pretoria High Court, Church Square and other spots.
City Property tour director Lize Nel said the main aim of the walk was create awareness among locals about the CBD’s beauty.
“A lot of people from the (Pretoria) east and Centurion do not know much about our beautiful CBD. The walk is basically to show people the historical landmarks like museums and statues that are situated in the CBD,” Nel said.
“There’s a lot of positive things in the city centre and we want people to just explore and enjoy .This experience will help them see the city in a new light,” she said.
Tour guide Adriaan Louw led the walk and shared his historical knowledge about the building.
“I’ve studied the city and I’m very much familiar with most buildings. The Tudor buildings that you see were created in 1903 and the first skyscrapers built in Pretoria,” he said.
