Twelve people were injured when a minibus taxi collided with a Putco bus on the corner of Stanza Bopape and Eastwood streets in Arcadia on Thursday morning.
The owner of Smart Medics Ambulance Service Sello Kekana, a passenger who was sitting in front with the driver was trapped inside the minibus taxi.
“The Tshwane Fire department used jaws of life to free the passenger. The taxi driver sustained major injuries,” Kekana said.
He added that Smart Medics Ambulance took four patients to the Tshwane District hospital while the rest were transported by other emergency services.
“The bus driver is fine. The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the accident,” said Kekana.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Johan Pieterse said he was not aware of the accident at the time of going to print but would provide comment once he had gathered information.
