One man was arrested after a high speed chase through Centurion following a house burglary in Heuweloord.
Paul Gerber, general manager of security company Monitor Net, said the company received a call when a suspect silver Toyota Corolla was seen dropping off four men in Ruimte Avenue.
“The men were seen jumping over a wall onto the yard of a house in Koorsboom Street,” said Gerber.
Gerber said the men broke into the house, but had disappeared by the time Monitor Net arrived on the scene.
A lookout warning was sent out to the community and other security companies.
“Another security company spotted the Toyota and gave chase.”
It was chased from Heuweloord to the corner of John Vorster Drive and Lenchen Avenue in Zwartkop.
“With the help of Orange Fox, Cop Watch, the local CPF as well as Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC), one arrest was made,” said Gerber.
Gerber said police suspected the Toyota had been stolen.
Gerber thanked the community and the other security companies involved in the arrest.
“[Together] with the help of the whole community, we can make Centurion a safer place.”
Gerber said three suspects escaped, and the owner of the home that was burgled was on holiday. He said thanks to a fast reaction by the community, nothing was believed to have been stolen from the Koorsboom Street home.
