A Danville police officer who had been shot during an attempted robbery was discharged from hospital on Monday.
The shooting took place in Gurko street, Danville extension 5 around 02:30 last Tuesday.
Pretoria CPF chairperson Thesigan Pillay said the officer was recovering at home following the shooting.
“He is recovering at home with family after he underwent surgery last week. He was discharged on Monday and we will be paying him a visit as the community.”
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said last week three robbers shot the officer twice before they fled the scene.
“The officer and his wife were asleep in their house when he heard noises outside. He saw three unknown men trying to break into the house.”
Selepe said the officer took his service pistol and went outside to investigate.
“The three men fired shots at the victim immediately when they saw him coming out. He was shot in the stomach and in his left leg before the suspect fled the scene,” she said.
On Tuesday, Selepe said the three robbers were still at large but police investigations were ongoing.
