The case of attempted murder against an Olievenhoutbosch police officer has been postponed to 20 April.
Officer Musawenkosi Blessed Sitatu (35) appeared in court last week, after he was arrested last Tuesday morning for allegedly shotting a man in the leg.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson Robbie Raburabu said it was believed Sitatu was arguing with the man at the time.
He was also allegedly drunk.
During the argument, the officer, who was off-duty, pulled out his service pistol and shot the man in the leg.
Scared residents phoned the police and ambulance service and the man was rushed to hospital.
The officer was also immediately arrestedby his Olievenhoutbosch police colleagues
Raburabu said an investigation into the shooting was still continuing.
It is not known what the two men were arguing about.
