Victim gets one over robbers
Residents in the north are asked to keep an eye out for these two men believed to have been robbing pedestrians.
Two men are on the hunted list after their victim recognised them in the mall on Wednesday.
The young woman had been robbed of her cellphone and was nearly kidnapped by the two men in Akasia last week, and when she bumped into them at the mall she quickly alerted security.
The Amandasig Action Group (AAG) was able to retrieve video captured on CCTV from a security camera in Wonderpark, and published the stills.
Last week, two women made separate reports that they had been robbed of their cell phones.
Both women alleged they were surprised by men in a black Hyundai Getz without a numberplate, said AAG operations manager, Erich Landsberg.
They robbed the women of their cellphones then swiftly drove off.
But in one incident, they tried to snatch the woman as well.
“They grabbed the girl and tried to shove her into the car,” Landsberg described the terrifying attack.
“She managed to break free and ran away.”
Landsberg said the terrified woman called for help on Wednesday, when she spotted the men.
“She immediately recognised them and said it seemed they also paused to look at her in recognition,” Landsberg told.
“She said she hid behind a pillar until they were out of sight.”
Landsberg said after they got security footage from the mall, the young woman positively identified the two men.
He said the same black Hyundai Getz was also seen in Heinrich Street on 24 March.
One of the men was vividly described with tattoos on one arm, and both men had goatees.
Anyone with more information on the suspects must report that to the police or CPF in their area.
