Meeting on Pretoria East cemetery postponed

A second public meeting on ongoing upgrades at the Pretoria East cemetery has been postponed until further notice.

Tshwane metro has postponed a second meeting with residents to discuss ongoing upgrades in the Pretoria East cemetery.

Unhappiness caused by earthworks done at the cemetery saw the Tshwane metro apologising to those affected at a previous meeting.

The uproar was about damage to several tombstones and graves.

Tshwane metro arranged a public meeting at the Erasmuskloof fire station on 10 March to discuss residents’ concerns.

The postponed second meeting had been scheduled for 4 April.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances the second public meeting in respect of ongoing upgrades as well as other developments at the Pretoria East cemetery has been postponed until further notice,” the metro said in a statement.

“The City apologises for the inconvenience this postponement may cause.”
