NATIONAL NEWS: Journalist ‘kidnapped’ in Krugersdorp

SABC journalist Jacques Steenkamp said he was held for about two hours by a group of men.

According to the SABC, a radio News senior investigative journalist Jacques Steenkamp has been held hostage in Krugersdorp last night, wrote Krugersdorp News

Steenkamp said he was working undercover, investigating claims of prostitution and child trafficking.

The SABC reported that he was held hostage for two hours and money was withdrawn from his account before he was eventually released.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, said a case of robbery has been opened and “is being investigated by local police.”
