Forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan is to appear in the Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly trying to flee the country.
O’Sullivan was arrested Friday evening by a Hawks special task team at the OR Tambo International Airport as his flight to London was about to depart.
Sullivan reportedly warned seven police officials earlier in an e-mail that he intended telling the media in London about alleged corruption in the SA Police Service.
According to a Sunday newspaper report, he was already on the aircraft when members of the Hawks took him into custody.
Pretoria private investigator Mike Bolhuis earlier told Rekord that O’Sullivan was arrested on a violation of immigration laws.
He is kept in custody at the Pretoria Central police station.
