Malema allegedly harassed by armed police

EFF leader Julius Malema was allegedly harassed and surrounded by armed police after they stopped him in Sandton, Johannesburg on Sunday.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema was allegedly harassed by police officers when they stopped him Sandton on Sunday night.

They apparently pointed firearms at him.

He took to Twitter, stating he was surrounded by approximately 10 police vehicles when he was stopped by a white unmarked van near the Grayston Drive off-ramp.

“We believe the white unmarked van which stopped him first could have been following and tracking him from Soweto,” said Ndlozi.

“The commander in chief (CIC), Julius Malema got out of his vehicle but none of the police did anything, claiming it was a mistake. He then got back into his vehicle and forced his way around the police cars, driving over the pavements and drove off.”

Ndlozi said his party took this as an act of intimidation.

“If the enemy thinks harassing our CIC Julius Malema will subdue him or the EFF, they are lying. We want to send a strong message to them we are unshaken and declare that their days in government are numbered.”

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini could not confirm the incident.

“We do not have any facts about this incident.”
