Search on after baby found dumped

Police are investigating a case of murder after a baby boy was found dumped in a dustbin at the weekend.

Police are still looking for the mother of a baby found dead in a dustbin in Pretoria West on Saturday morning, near a block of flats on WF Nkomo street.

Pretoria West Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson Thesigan Pillay said the baby’s mother was nowhere to be found.

“We have absolute no knowledge of her whereabouts at this stage. It seems no one knows who’s responsible for dumping the boy.”

A Carmen West complex resident discovered the body and alerted the police.

Pillay said the boy appeared to be less than a year old.

Pretoria West police were not available for comment at the time of going print.

In March, a male foetus was found dumped in Elandspoort.

A woman, believed to be the mother, was interrogated but later released without charge.
