Street closure due to march

The Tshwane metro police department has warned motorists of the closure of Struben Street, Nelson Mandela Drive and Mandela Street during a march on Monday morning from 10:00 to 14:00.

The Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) has warned motorists of street closures during a march by approximately 400 members of the African People’s Convention (APC) on Monday morning.

Metro police inspector Phindile Molefe said Struben Street, Nelson Mandela Drive and Mandela Street would be partially closed from 10:00 to 14:00 to allow marchers to pass through.

“After 14:00, the streets will be opened again,” Molefe said.

She said TMPD officers would monitor the affected streets.

APC secretary-general, Paseka Moshwadiba said the party was protesting for better pay for underpaid Grade 1 and R teachers.

“We will be marching to the Presidency to hand over a memorandum because many Grade 1 and Grade R teachers have the right qualifications for their jobs but are not remunerated accordingly,” Moshwadiba said.
