Cop killers jailed for life
The trio accused of killing a senior Gauteng police officer were jailed for life.
Three men accused of killing a senior Gauteng police officer were each given a life sentence on Monday by the Pretoria High Court.
Isaac Vele, Simon Msibi and Tshepo Mosai were found guilty of murder last year in December.
Major-General Tirhani Maswanganyi was murdered in 2013 when his was assaulted and suffocated before his body was dumped in an open field near Hammanskraal.
Judge Bert Bam said at their conviction it was clear the trio had a common purpose to kill Maswanganyi.
On Monday, Bam handed down each of them a life sentence.
The 52-year-old Major General was on duty the night that he got murdered.
According to reports, the convicted trio were members of the South African National Defence Force at the time of the crime.
