NEWSFLASH: Man’s body discovered in man hole

An elderly man's body was discovered in a manhole on Monday after he was murdered over a week ago.

Flowers Street in Capital Park was lit up with police and fire truck lights on Monday after a 64-year-old man’s body was discovered in a manhole.

According to police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach, the man was allegedly murder by his 36-year-old ex-girlfriend. “Two people were arrested after a woman turned herself over to the Villieria police, following the alleged murder of her former boyfriend,” Weilbach said.

The woman escorted the police to her former boyfriend’s house in Villieria where he was killed, following a dispute over money on 28 March.

“She then pointed out an address in Capital Park where she and two other men assisted her current friend to dump the body in a manhole. The police found the body last night and arrested the woman and her 41-year-old friend for the murder, Weilbach said.

She said more arrests are expected.

The woman and man are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon on murder charges.

Anyone who can assist the police with information can contact the Villieria police station on 012-403-8600 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
