NATIONAL NEWS: Woman murdered and husband hospitalised after a hijacking

The woman was taken to an open veld where she was killed.

Police in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, are investigating a case of murder after a woman was killed and her husband hospitalised following a hijacking, writes The Citizen.

Lenasia police spokesperson, Captain Hector Netshivodza, said the incident occurred at around 8:30pm on Monday night, Rising Sun Lenasia reported.

“The couple were on their way from the Mandela informal settlement in Katlehong, to to deliver money at a petrol station, when they were overtaken by a black car which stopped in front of them causing their vehicle, a Nissan Tiida, to come to a halt,” Netshivodza said.

One of the suspects alighted and smashed the driver’s side window with a brick. A scuffle ensued and the driver of the Tiida managed to escape.

His wife, who was left behind, was taken to an open veld where she was killed.

The husband, in the meanwhile, had managed to contact a friend, and headed to the scene of the crime where he collapsed on arrival.

“The woman was found outside the vehicle with a stab wound to the stomach,” added Netshivodza.

No arrests have been made.
