Businessman killer still wanted a year later

Family of Louis du Toit are still coming to terms with the loss but police are still looking for the third and final robber after arresting two.

A third man thought to have been involved in the 2015 murder of a Pretoria West businessman is still on the run.

Louis du Toit was leaving the Pretoria Chicken and Meat wholesale carrying a bag of cash when he was attacked by three men last year in March.

They shot him dead before fleeing with the bag.

Captain Louise Reed Steynberg from the Pretoria West police station said the two of the three men had since been arrested in connection with the murder.

“The police are looking for Lucky Mnisi who can assist us in this case. He is 1.7m tall and his last known whereabouts are Soshanguve, Mabopane or Ga Rankuwa but he may also be in in other parts of Gauteng,” she said.

Steynberg said anyone who might know Lucky Mnisi or are aware of his whereabouts should contact Sergeant Molekeng on 072-285-0597 or 082-365-3507 or 012-327-4907 extension 211 during office hours.

Du Toit’s father Louis said he and his wife were still struggling to come to terms of losing their son a year on.

“It has been a difficult time for us in the past year. We are still suffering and the only thing that will make us feel better is seeing those criminals being sentenced,” the father said.

“My son left his wife and a two-year-old daughter. It has taken a toll on the family.”

He thanked the Pretoria West for assisting in the case.

“The police have been in contact with us on a regular basis and we are happy with how they are handling the case so far.”

The family of Du Toit wrote a letter to the police that reads in part:

“At the time of his death, Louis was a husband and a father of a 14-month-old baby. It was the worst day of our lives. Our family was shattered and words cannot describe the obstacles that we have had to face from that day onwards. His little girl is still undergoing therapy because her daddy never came back home. I have had to do this for his little girl because he was a victim in all this and truly did not deserve to die in the manner which he did. I plead with you today to help us on this matter.”
