Family hopeful after identikit

A family hopes to get answers after an identikit of a man that might have information of their father's death was released.

A family remains hopeful that an identikit of a man linked to the death of their family member will lead to some answers.

Randall Basson (70), a Garsfontein pensioner, was murdered in February.

Son, Russel Basson said even though police have not found anything concrete the family remained hopeful they would get answers.

Russel said after receiving the identikit from police he posted the man’s picture on social media.

He said the released identikit was a likeness of the man the family believed could assist with information regarding the murder of his father.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said the identikit released by police was of a man believed to have information and not of a suspect.

“The man we are looking for is a person of interest,” said Miller

He said this person was someone who may have details that could lead to more information.

Randall Bason (70) was brutally stabbed and strangled during a robbery on the morning of 15 February.

He was found with computer speaker cables around his neck with several kitchen knives scattered around the house.

Russel said there had been at least 10 attempts to get into the property in the four months before his father’s death.

Russel said anyone with information could contact investigating officer Constable Motau on 012 369 6900 or email Russel on russel.basson@gmail.com
