Man caught over cop shooting

The man has been on the run and was only identified and arrested by police on Wednesday.

A 25-year-old man will appear on charges of robbery and attempted murder in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

He allegedly attacked a police officer at his home in September last year, stole the policeman’s firearm and shot and wounded him.

Pretoria Central cluster police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the man had been on the run and was only identified and arrested by police on Wednesday.

“He told us he had since sold the police officer’s firearm. The police officer is in good health and our investigation on this matter is ongoing,” Msimango said.
