Shot restaurant manager’s arm unresponsive

Shot restaurant manager's arm might be damaged permanently after being shot in February.

The restaurant manager who was shot in the east of Pretoria recently could lose the use of his arm.

Conrad Liebenberg’s fiancé, Lalucia van Niekerk, said it was a difficult time for the family because Liebenberg had not regained the full use of his arm.

Liebenberg was shot in February at the Kimiad restaurant where he worked at the time February.

Liebenberg was discharged from hospital last month after he was shot in the upper body by an unknown man.

Van Niekerk said although Liebenberg was getting therapy, parts of his arm were still unresponsive.

“We are planning on seeing the doctor again for a check-up in two weeks,” she said.

The family was very supportive. However, Liebenberg was frustrated by the prolonged recovery.

“I can tell he is getting frustrated but we hope the doctor will have good news at the next check-up,” she said.

Van Niekerk said police were still investigating.

Police could not be reached for comment before publishing.

Van Niekerk said Liebenberg was approached by an armed man outside the restaurant who shot him.

According to course manager Jana Jones the shooting was meant as a warning to the owner of the restaurant.

“From what I heard, Conrad said the man who shot him shouted that it was a warning for his boss at the restaurant.”
