Brutal murder hits Moot

The woman was found with multiple stab wounds.

A woman in her fifties was found murdered at a house in 8th Avenue in Pretoria Moot on Monday.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said Wonderboompoort police were alerted around 13:00.

“On arrival at the scene on the corner of 8th Avenue and Ben Swart Street we found the body of a woman in her fifties lying in a pool of her own blood. She had sustained multiple stab wounds to the upper body.”

The police recovered a blood-stained knife that was believed to have been used to commit the murder outside the house.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot,” said Moloto.

He said the police were told that neighbours heard what sounded like an argument between the woman and someone else. The neighbours immediately alerted the police.

Emergency services Paramedics on Call responded and declared the woman dead on scene.

“At this stage we are investigating a murder. We do not know the motive behind the killing but we will continue our investigation,” said Moloto.

The identity of the deceased was being withheld until her next of kin had been informed.

Moloto urged anyone with information on the matter to call crime line on 32211.
