No arrests yet in body parts case

Police are yet to find the man who dropped a bag containing male body parts in Soshanguve as he attacked another man.

Police are yet to make an arrest after a man dropped a bag containing male body parts in Soshanguve Block F last Friday.

Spokesperson Constable Reneilwe Makwalo said Thabiso Shakwane (31) intervened when an unknown man attacked his younger brother Khothatso (25) with a pair of scissors.

Makwalo said Shakwane picked up a brick and hit the man who then ran away.

“As he ran, he dropped the bag he was carrying. The brothers picked it up and were shocked to find body parts in it,” said Makwalo adding that among the body parts, were a 4/5 and testicles.

A witness told Record that residents were alerted to after the body parts were discovered and chased after the man.

“We caught him near Nafcoc shopping centre,” said a resident who added it was suspected the man residents caught was from Witkoppies and worked with a Zimbabwean.

Local sangoma, Kitso Madlopha condemned the use of human body parts to boost muthi.

“The use of human body parts amounts to witchcraft. No human body parts can be used to make muthi.”

Makwalo could not say what had happened to the suspect or if the parts had been harvested from one person.

“The body parts were taken for forensic investigation. Police are hunting the suspect,” she said.

In the meantime police searched a house near Soshanguve Police Station on Sunday.

Police found the naked body of a young man, his male body parts have been removed. A quarry of stones was placed upon the dead body.”

Makwalo said the underwear of the man was found around his knees and his shoes next to his body.

Police were investigating a case of murder.

Makwalo could not confirm if the two cases were linked. Of Makwalo could not say if the male body parts that was found on Friday belonged to the dead body found on Sunday.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
