Police launch manhunt for two rapists

Two girls aged 14 and 15 raped in Soshanguve at the weekend.

Police have launched a manhunt for two men after two cases of rape were opened in Soshanguve at the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said two girls aged 14 and 15 were raped in two separate incidents at Blocks KK and JJ in Soshanguve.

The first incident occurred around 18:10 on Saturday, at Block KK.

“A woman reported that she returned home on Saturday, to find that her 14-year-old daughter was not home. Minutes later she received an SMS from her informing her that a suspect who is known to her had raped her. The kid was found crying and bruised. The suspect has since fled and we are still searching for him,” said Mangena.

In the second incident, Mangena said a 15-year-old girl who had been sent to the shop by her mother, reported that she had been raped by a man known to her.

“The victim reported that the man followed her to the shops, and offered her a drink which was allegedly spiked. The man grabbed her and forced her into his home where he raped her,” he said.

Mangena refused to reveal the identities of the two men saying it could jeopardise the investigations.

“The suspects are known to the police and to the victims. It is only a matter of time before they are arrested,” he said.
