Man nabbed for laptop theft

A man was arrested for stealing a laptop a week after it happened.

A television camera captured a man stealing a laptop from a car in Moreleta Park on Tuesday.

Directorate of Specialised Security’s operation manager Martin Barnard said the man was arrested in Rubenstein Drive near a petrol station.

“Someone from our sister company Brinant took him into custody.”

He said the man was spotted by an attendant at the petrol station when CCTV footage showed him opening a car and taking a laptop a week ago.

“Brinant Security was notified of the man’s location and it apprehended the man.”

Barnard said the man was taken to Garsfontein police station.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Dave Miller was still to confirm the theft arrest.
