Radio personality Dianne Broodryk believes a gang might be behind a robbery at her home in Centurion on Thursday afternoon.

Broodryk, a news reader on the Complimentary Breakfast on JacarandaFM, told Rekord that she was alone in her home in the Reeds when this happened.

“It was around 15:00 when I heard a noise at the gate outside. I opened the door to see what was going on and before I knew it, two robbers stood inside my house,” Broodryk said.

The robbers ordered Broodryk to lie down on a couch and they covered her with a blanket.

“I wanted to reach for my phone but one of the robbers told me not to be stupid.”

The robbers demanded to know where Broodryk kept her jewellery, laptops and other valuable belongings.

“Within 10 minutes, the robbers were gone with cellphones, computers and jewellery,” Broodryk said.

From what Broodryk could see the robbers were not armed.

“I could just see that one of the robbers had something that looked like a koevoet in his hand.”

Broodryk said her main desire now was to get her routine back.

“I just want my phone and my laptop back. I have so much work on that laptop that is now lost. I also have photos and sentimental things on my phone.”

Broodryk said the police told her four other houses were robbed in the Centurion area on the same day, apparently by the same gang.

She was told that the gang drove around in a light green Toyota.

“It’s almost like a house smash and grab. The robbers go into the house and take everything they can as fast as they can.”

Security firm Orange Fox attended to two calls on the day that Broodryk’s house was robbed, both were connected to a light green Toyota.

“Three to four men in a light green Toyota are active in the Centurion area,” said Orange Fox spokesperson Marcé Bester.

The Wierdabrug police was called to the scene, but comment from them could not yet be obtained.
