Trio nabbed for multiple crimes
The trio are alleged to have been part of a burglary where a safe and other items were stolen.
Three men were arrested and charged with various crimes in Temba on Wednesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said the trio were arrested in bushes which had been their hiding spot.
It is alleged they broke into a house in Unit D, Temba where they stole groceries and a safe, Moremi added.
“Following the burglary, the trio found a man in Unit 5 who used a grinder to open up the safe for them. Inside the safe they found a firearm with three magazines and 70 rounds of live ammunition,” he said.
The trio sold the firearm and headed for the bushes to smoke nyaope.
“Following a tip, police managed to find the three suspects and arrested them while they were still having a smoke. A firearm and other stolen items were seized,” Moremi said.
The trio will appear at the Moretele Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of home burglary, theft and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
