Two held over dagga in raid

Police made numerous arrests during an operation in Hercules.

Two dagga dealers and a string of other offenders were arrested in a police raid in Hercules this week.

Hercules police spokesperson Bonginkosi Msimango said the operation on Wednesday was conducted under the command of Hercules station commander Colonel Johannes De Villiers.

“During our operation, we nabbed two suspects, aged 18 and 36 for dagga.”

Two unlawful shebeens were closed at a new RDP houses development in Suiderberg.

Two women, aged 35 and 41, were arrested for dealing in liquor and 17 more were caught for offences such as urinating in public, public drinking and illegally walking on a freeway.

Eight fines totalling R4 500 were issued for traffic offences.

“The operation was for a good cause as we want to eliminate crime completely in the area,” Msimango said.
