Centurion farmer murdered

A Centurion farmer was ambushed and killed.

A man was murdered at his farm home near Olivanhoutbosch, Centurion on Friday night.

Mathew Morgan (42) was brutally murdered shortly after 21:00 at his house in Knoppieslaagte, Mnandi area.

Centurion Concerned Citizens spokesperson Hannes du Buisson said the man was shot just outside his home on Friday night.

Du Buisson said the man’s wife said she heard a disturbing sound outside their house.

She said the fence alarm went off.

Du Buisson said Morgan went to investigate the noise that triggered the alarm.

“As he opened the cottage door, he was fatally shot. The man was shot twice, once in the head and the other shot in the upper chest,” he said.

He said three shots were fired.

“Three shell casings were found at the scene – two were found to have killed Morgan and the other was believed to have been from a gun that belonged to Morgan,” he said.

Buisson said after police arrived and investigated the scene, they discovered the fence of the small farm was cut open.

Police were still to confirm the murder at time of publishing.
