Wierdabrug police are searching for two men who shot a woman in the leg during an attempted hijacking in Clubview last week Tuesday.
The Wierdabrug police are searching for two men who shot a woman in an attempted hijacking in Clubview last week Tuesday.
Spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma, said the woman believed to be in her 60s, was attacked after parking her Mercedes Vito miniva in her garage.
“The complainant alleged that she drove her bus into her driveway, when she stopped to open the door ,she was approached by two unknown men wearing balaclavas. They pointed a firearm at her, demanding her rings but she screamed for help,” Huma said adding that when the woman’s employee came to the her rescue, the men pointed a gun at her too.
“The woman was shot in the leg before the suspects took her cell phone and wedding ring,” said Huma.
A case of robbery with a firearm was opened.
Huma has urged anyone with information about the crime to contact the Wierdabrug police station.
Huma urged the public to be vigilant when approaching their driveways and check their surroundings for anything suspicious.
“If you see something suspicious, do not stop but rather drive away and call the police for assistance,” Huma said.
Orange Fox spokesperson Ruan Heyns said the men fled the scene with the woman’s jewellery and wallet but left the car.
“She was sent to hospital by ER24 and remains in a stable condition,” Heyns explained.
She sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Netcare Unitas hospital.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said in a statement that ER24 paramedics found CPF members and a security company was already on the scene.
“Members of the security company and medical response unit were attending to the woman who sustained an injury to her leg,”Bodasing explained.
Bodasing said police were on scene for their investigation.
