A family race like no other
A first of its kind cycle race will be held in May that will take participants from the beauty of the Hennops River to the excitement of the Zwartkops Air Force Base.

From the amazingly serene beauty of the banks of the Hennops River to the exhilarating Zwartkops Air Force base and air force museum, May is the month for one of the most unusual and exciting new family cycle races of the year.
Leriba Hotel and Spa in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover Centurion are hosting a first of its kind national family cycle event on Sunday 15 May.
The race, which starts and ends at Leriba, on the banks of the Hennops River, includes an exclusive ride through the Zwartkops Air Force Base, the home of the SA Air Force (SAAF) Museum.
Cyclists can choose between a fun 3km and a more challenging 27km route. The 27km route will take you through the streets of Centurion towards the Zwartkops Air Force Base’s main entrance.
From the entrance to the base, you will embark on an exclusive 15km route of mixed jeep and single-track and around the runways in the air force base while continuously having a view of the base and the most spectacular hangers. This route is exclusive for this race.
The 3km route consists of a mixture of tarred road and single track through a green belt running alongside the Hennops River.
“This annual race is specifically designed for sheer family enjoyment and good company. Cycle races are a great way for families to spend time together and Leriba is honoured to host this prestigious event,” said owner and CEO of the Leriba Hotel Group, Peet du Preez.
After the race, family members and cyclists can enjoy a culinary braai experience in Leriba Hotel and Spa’s indigenous gardens. A selection of award winning wine farms will be offering free wine tastings and wine will be available at cellar prices.
A three night stay at the Leriba Bush Lodge near Phalaborwa or the Leriba Coastal Lodge at Balito (to the value of R13 000) and a Land Rover experience day for two are amongst the exciting prizes to look forward to. Be sure to bring your timing chip in order to qualify for prizes.
