Restaurants robbed at gunpoint

Armed men storm store and rob staff on Sunday night.

Three restaurants at the Celtis Ridge shopping centre were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday night, at closing time, said Centurion Concerned Citizens spokesperson Hannnes du Buisson.

“The Debonairs, Steers, and Fish Aways, all linked internally under the same roof, were robbed,” he said.

He said an unknown number of men, but believed to be at least nine, stormed the store and forced the security guard stationed outside to come in with them.

They then apparently locked the stores and robbed staff of money and cellphones. Some of the staff were also forced into an office in Debonairs at gunpoint.

“The men then fled in a silver Volkswagen Polo,” he said adding that fortunately nobody was killed or injured.

Wierdabrug police had not commented at the time of going to press but anyone with information on the robbery can phone the station on 012-654-3131.
