Sundowns and Chiefs faceoff this weekend
Chiefs and Sundowns resume rivalry while Tuks seek survival.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will renew their rivalry on Saturday evening at Loftus Versfeld.
Both teams started the season with the ambition of winning the 2015/16 Absa Premier League but after 26 games, it looks like the Pretoria side might just snatch their seventh title as chiefs are nowhere to be found in the title chase.
Chiefs will be boosted by their recent 2-1 over University of Pretoria after going winless in eight games in all competitions.
‘Downs on the other hand, are still licking their wounds after drawing 0-0 with Ajax Cape Town and losing 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup.
Saturday’s game might be a season defining moment for the Brazilians as a loss will see Bidvest Wits resurrect their title chase.
In the relegation battle, Amatuks will play arguably their most important game in the PSL era when they take on the relegation threatened Jomo Cosmos.
The students lie uncomfortably on 14th position and are six points away from 13th placed Polokwane City. A win against Cosmos will stretch their lead to three points plus increase their goal difference between the two.
If Shaun Bartlett’s team are to survive this season, then Sunday’s win away to Cosmos is a must.
On Friday, Supersport United travel to Harry Gwala stadium to face Maritzburg United. Matsatsantsa still have a chance to finish into the top 8 but they will have to win at least two of their next four games to stand a realistic chance.
