Two people injured in armed robbery of liquor store

Orange Fox Security has issued safety tips for shop owners following the robbery.

Two people were injured during an armed robbery of a liquor store in Centurion on Thursday night.

Ruan Heyns of Orange Fox security confirmed that no arrests have been made. The robbers fled on foot after a Broadway Street store was robbed in Valhalla.

“I believe cash was stolen from the store,” Heyns said.

Best Care ambulance services spokesperson Xander Loubser said two people were injured during the robbery.

“A customer and the owner of the store were both assaulted. The owner has a head injury from being hit on the head with a bottle,” Loubser said.

According to Loubser the customer sustained back injuries when the robbers kicked him.

“The customer was transported to Kalafong hospital,” he said.

Loubser said Wierdabrug police were also on the scene.

Marcé Bester from Orange Fox security issued safety tips for shop owners following the robbery:

  • Always have your panic buttons nearby. Also have fixed and remote controlled panic buttons in your shop.
  • Test your panic signals regularly with your security company. Notify your security company that you will be testing.
  • Ensure your shop is well lit outside and inside.
  • Test your panic buttons regularly to ensure the batteries are never flat.
  • Request regular patrols by your security company.
