Drug sweep in Hercules
A total of 33 people were arrested at the weekend, including 21 for drugs.

Police hope the arrest of 21 people for possession of drugs in Hercules over the long weekend, will go a long way to ridding the area of the scourge.
The arrests were during a police cluster operation.
“The focus was on cleaning the streets of drugs,” said spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango.
He said another 12 people were arrested for various crimes including business burglary, theft, reckless or negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, malicious damage to property and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
But Msimango raised concern that cable theft had become a problem in the area.
“The suspects target cables that run from the street into a residence. The police therefore urge residents to report any suspicious people who seemed to be working on electricity at a house in the absence of its occupants.”
