Trio arrested for business robbery
Three men were arrested for holding up a business owner and stealing cellphones, cigarettes and cash from the shop.
Three men were arrested on Monday, shortly after robbing a business in Pretoria West.
Police spokesperson Captain Reed Steynberg said the trio appeared in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, for business robbery.
They are reportedly are out on bail.
“Three armed men entered the business premises around 07:30 in Christoffel Street, Pretoria West. The complainant alleged that one of them pointed a firearm at him while the other two helped themselves to a number of cigarette boxes, three cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.”
Steynberg said the men fled the scene in the complainant’s gold Nissan.
“The vehicle was later spotted and the three suspects were arrested by the K9 Unit and the Pretoria West police,” Steynburg said adding the gun was not found.
“One of the suspects has a conviction for the possession of explosives. The explosives found in his possession are used in ATM bombings,” Steynberg said.
Steynberg said the other two were suspected of involvement in another in reported to the Hercules police.
The trio are aged between 27 and 47.
