Thief caught red-handed

Suspect arrested after a quick response by the police.

The Silverton police arrested a 29-year-old male for housebreaking on Wednesday.

This comes after the police and the security company, K9, who were on an anti-crime operation in Silverton were tipped-off to someone breaking a window to gain entry into a house nearby.

The tip off came from the local community policing forum.

Silverton police spokesperson, Captain Jan Sepatu said the police and K9 trapped the man inside the house, and was arrested.

“The suspect was in possession of copper cables and housebreaking in tools packed in his bag,” said Sepatu.

The suspect was charged with house breaking and would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
