Poortman case postponed again
The murder trial into the death of police officer Captain Kenneth Poortman, who was gunned down in December last year, has been postponed yet again.
The court case against four men accused of murdering police officer Captain Kenneth Poortman, who was found dead near the Mabopane highway last December, has been postponed again.
The four briefly appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.
Sipho Tlou (25), Thabo Mampa (age undisclosed), Themba Mbowane (34) and Steven Meda (age undisclosed) were informed by the magistrate that their case had been postponed for further police investigation.
Poortman’s widow, Sergeant Ann Poortman, who is also a police officer and spokesperson for the Central Police Station, was not present in court.
She learned of her husband’s death when she arrived at a scene as part of her duties as a cluster spokesperson.
Poortman was shot in what appeared to have been a hijacking.
His car and gun were later found during the arrest of the men now standing trial for his murder.
The accused will appear in court again on 21 June.
