Three nabbed for house break-in
Police made a breakthrough following an increase in home burglaries in Pretoria east recently.
Three men believed to be behind a string of home burglaries in Pretoria east were arrested recently.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said the men, who were in possession of burglary tools and suspected stolen electronic equipment, were arrested in Rubida Street, Die Wilgers on Friday morning.
He said during a random stop and search operation a police unit searched a vehicle and found the items.
Police believe they made a significant breakthrough by arresting the three, following an increase in home burglaries in the area over the past two weeks.
“According to our station commander, Colonel Andrew Lesch, the vehicle of suspects had been hijacked in Pretoria West,” said Miller.
Police were investigating whether the men were linked to other crimes in Die Wilgers and Lynnwood Glen areas.
Miller said the police urge residents to get involved in the community policing forum (CPF) activities in their area.
“The CPF helps inform residents of an increase in crime in their areas and what to do in case of an emergency,” he said.
“The men will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Miller.
