Foreign national brutally assaulted in robbery
The men took an undisclosed amount of money and fled.
A foreign national was brutally assaulted during a robbery in Silverton on Thursday.
Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said two men entered a store on the corner of Jasmyn Avenue and Dykor Street on Thursday morning. They attacked the foreign national, an employee in the business.
“They brutally assaulted him and took him to the back of the store. There they found another employee who was ordered to lay on the floor,” he said on Friday.
He said the men took an undisclosed amount of money and fled.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the assaulted man suffered serious injuries.
“Paramedics stabilised the seriously injured man on the scene then transported him to a local hospital,” she said.
She said reports from the scene indicated the foreign national was ambushed by men who posed as customers.
Sepato urged anyone with information to report to the Silverton police station on 012 804 8181.
