Woman recovering after stabbing
A woman was stabbed in the leg and ribs while waiting for a bus in Capital Park recently.
A woman stabbed during a recent robbery in Capital Park was on Friday still recovering in hospital.
She was on her way to catch a bus around 04:45 when an unknown man stabbed her in the leg and ribs, Capital Park sub-forum chairperson Mike Burt said.
“The attacker tried to steal the victim’s handbag but she fought back, which forced the attacker to stab her. The attacker fled the scene with the victim’s bag but later dropped it,” said Burt
“I was called to the scene a few minutes later and saw the lady bleeding while walking to hospital,” he said.
Burt said the woman was in a lot of pain and struggled to breathe when he found her.
“I took her to the Steve Biko hospital but when we got there, the staff were not really helpful,” he said.
Burt said the victim was asked to fill in the forms to get admitted, even though she was physically unable to do so.
“She was given a form to fill in upon our arrival. She couldn’t walk properly and needed help with the form because she lost her glasses, but the staff just ignored her,” he said.
“I had to help her to fill in the form to open a file before hospital staff attended to her. It was ridiculous of them to ask her to fill in the forms as she was still traumatised by the incident,” he said.
Burt said the victim was recovering well.
Moot police were not available for comment.
